LYN ST. CLAIR

Lyn St. Clair's work is based exclusively on her personal experience. She spends countless hours in the field watching the wildlife she portrays and exploring the country that inspires her work. Such experiences include: helping with branding in Montana and cutting cows in Texas, pulling crab pots on the Bering Sea, wandering the coast of the Baltic Sea, and watching Ross' gulls hunt the surf of the Chukchi Sea, following foxes through the Aleutians in winter and hunting dogs through the field in fall, watching hornbills cruise the rainforest canopy from ABOVE at Bokor in Cambodia, “chasing” polar bears at the top of the world and grizzlies in the lower 48, driving a large herd of horses 28 miles across Montana's Mission Valley (camera in one hand, reins in the other) and driving throughout the lower 48 to plein air paint 48 states in 48 weeks for a charity project. A Tennessee girl who followed her art West, Lyn currently resides on the edge of a Montana ranch that borders National Forest and Wilderness North of Yellowstone. These days inspiration is never far with bears, cougar, wolves and other wildlife in her backyard (sometimes on the deck) and countless miles to explore on her horses.

Lyn's paintings have won over 80 awards across the country, including Best in Show three years in a row at the Ward Museum Show. Her work has been exhibited at the Tucson Museum of Art, Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, Bennington Center for the Arts, the West Valley Art Museum, the Hiram Blauveldt Art Museum and the Phippen Museum. Other notable exhibitions that have included her work are Arts for the Parks Top 100, "Wild in de Natuur" (Enschede, Netherland) and the Society of Animal Artists' Annual Shows. Lyn's work is in the permanent collections of the Bennington Center for the Arts and the Worrell Museum. Recent awards include an Excellence Award at the Natureworks Show and People's Choice at Plein Air on the Yellowstone.
